Air Source Heat Pumps
Q1. Where do you normally position these machines?
They can positioned up 500mm from the house or up to 20 metres away from the house e.g. behind the garage or shed.
Q2. Do they heat domestic hot water?
They will heat domestic hot water up to 55oC when the machine is running in heating mode.
Q3. How does the machine operate in subzero temperatures?
These machines are designed to work in temperatures down to -15oC. Also, air source heat pumps are generally upsized in order to take into consideration subzero air temperatures.
Q4. Do they run on 230 Volt power supply?
We have air source heat pumps which can deliver up to 25kw using 230 Volt power. This will heat a house up to 3500ft2.
Q5. How efficient are these machines?
The efficiency of Air Source Heat Pumps varies depending on the air temperature. However, over the period of a winter they will produce 4kw of heat for every 1kw of electrical energy used.
Q6. Are these machines noisy?
No, generally they operate around 45 – 50 db(A).
Ecostar Air Source Hot Water Cylinder
Q1. Does this unit have certification?
The Ecostar Hot Water Heat Pump Cylinder has full CE Certification and meets all the required standards.
Q2. Can the unit be set to run on the cheaper nightrate electricity?
The unit has an integral timer built into and can be set to run either constantly or on the cheaper nightrate power.
Q3. Can this cylinder be used as part of a pressurised system?
A booster pump can be fitted to this like a normal cylinder or it can be connected to the mains to produce a mains fed system.
Q4. What does it cost to heat the hot water?
Based on a 4 person family and an average usage of 50 litres / per person per day we estimate the running costs be around £/€15 - per month.
General
Q1. Pellet Burner
Our new Rozell pellet burner which produces hot water on demand. This means a hot water storage cylinder need not be installed, saving you space and money.
Q2. Ecostar Air Source Heat Pump
Our new Ecostar Air Source Heat Pump can deliver 25kW of heating on single phase (230v) power. This machine eliminates the requirement for multiple units and also back up heaters.
Underfloor Heating System
Q1. Do you have to run underfloor heating all the time?
No, it is a common misconception that this is so. You control the system to exactly suit your needs.
Q2. Can you control each room individually?
Yes, individual room stats are installed for this purpose – we control the water flow rate, when we are setting up the system in order to deliver more heat to colder rooms e.g. conservatories.
Q3. What happens if there is a leak under the floor?
There are no joints in the floor and our pipe is extremely tough. The pipe is manufactured and tested under very high pressure thus eliminating the possibility of a leak. However, if a pipe is accidentally damaged, usually during construction, a simple mechanical joint is applied for a quick and totally reliable repair.
Q4. How warm does the floor get?
Usually the floor surface heats to around 26c not hot enough to notice unless you are walking in your bare feet.
Q5. Does underfloor heating need a special boiler?
any boiler will do, gas or oil. However, higher efficiences can be attained by using a condensing boiler or a renewable energy source like a heat pump or pellet burner. Warmfloor Heating Ireland supply and install a wide range of these. Please ask for advice.
Q6. Is underfloor heating suitable for older buildings?
Yes, but sometimes floorboards need lifted or the floors raised in height. Generally a site visit and closer inspection will be necessary.
Q7. Is it more expensive than radiators to install?
Usually, it is a little more expensive initially, but bearing in mind the lower running costs, the extra outlay is well justified and makes sound economic sense in the longer term.
Q8. Who installs the System?
Your own plumber can fit it or we can provide a W.H.I. approved installer.
Q9. Is the system difficult to install?
Its not difficult at all. Our pipe is easy to handle and bends readily. There are no joints and the manifolds are factory built and tested. We will also provide CAD drawings on request and schematic layouts showing interconnection to boilers, hot water tanks etc.
