THE TEMPERATURE GRADIENT
Underfloor heating is the logical choice because the heat is where you want it - around you! The warmest part of an underfloor heated room is the floor itself and the space immediately above it. The temperatures gradually decreases towards the ceiling.
Conventional radiators create warm air in convection currents, which rise to the ceiling and back to the floor again so the coolest part of the room is at floor level. This air movement not only puts the heat where you least want it, at the ceiling, it also creates cold draughts around your feet and lower body.
WARMFLOORS
With an underfloor heating system the floor surface is warmed to around 26oC making tiles and marble floors warm to the touch. The perfect combination of radiant heat from the floor together with being in contact with a warm surface produces a feeling of well-being and sensation of cosiness similar to that of being wrapped up in a warm duvet.
UNDERFLOOR HEATING PUTS YOU IN CONTROL
By using a combination of high quality, sensitive wall thermostats and time controllers you are in complete control of the level of heating in every part of the dwelling / building. Thermostats are accurate to within 1oC making it simple to find the exact temperature you want in every room.
Not only does this give you a more comfortable environment but also saves you money. Typically, with an underfloor heating system thermostats can be set 2 - 3oC lower representing significant savings on your fuel bill.
Benefits, Facts & Figures
- UNDERFLOOR HEATING IS HEALTHIER - With less air / dust movement and a higher moisture level underfloor heating is kinder to your skin and more suitable for people with respiratory problems.
- UNDERFLOOR HEATING IS SAFER - There are no hot, sharp metallic surfaces e.g. radiators making it a safe environment especially for the elderly and young children.
- UNDERFLOOR HEATING IS INVISIBLE - With the absence of unsightly and obstructive radiators decorating and furniture placement is easy leaving you the freedom to express your imagination.
- UNDERFLOOR HEATING IS MAINTENANCE FREE - A well-installed and designed system is virtually maintenance free, giving you a lifetime of comfort and dependability.
- UNDERFLOOR HEATING – THE WAY TO GO - With the accent on modern, more open-plan design, larger windows and the increasing use of renewable energy sources, underfloor heating is the logical choice.
- UNDERFLOOR HEATING IS ALSO “COOL” - Using the same network of underfloor heating pipes W.H.I can now cool your house in summer. By linking it to an air / source heat pump not only can we heat it in winter but also provide cooling in summer.
- COMFORT IN WINTER & SUMMER - Because of the increasingly warm summers and improved insulation, the temperature in your home keeps on rising. Wouldn’t it be perfect to cool your home in a really easy way? This is possible with your current floor heating system. Compared to an air-conditioning system, it offers lots of advantages. For example, cooling with your current floor heating installation is much cheaper and healthier. As well as having all the advantages of floor heating, you can also create a pleasant indoor climate all year round.
